Vineyards and gastronomy

Use your stay to visit the wine estates of Gaillac, one of France’s oldest vineyards, and treat yourself to a tasting.

Beyond its wines, the Tarn is rich in gastronomy: the famous pink garlic of Lautrec, the croquants of Cordes, the cured meats of Lacaune.

You’ll find plenty of bars, restaurants and farmers’ markets in Albi. For a full vineyard-and-bastides day, follow our Tarn stay itinerary.

Culture and heritage

Trace the Tarn’s history through the mining museum, the Saut du Tarn museum or the glass museum; visit the Sorèze abbey-school in the footsteps of Dom Robert.

Explore Albi’s episcopal city: stroll its lanes, admire the view from the Berbie gardens, enjoy the calm of the Saint-Salvi cloister, contemplate the cathedral’s paintings and finish with the Toulouse-Lautrec museum.

Villages and bastides

The Tarn is full of beautiful villages and bastides. Explore Lautrec and Monestiés, listed among France’s most beautiful villages.

Enjoy the hilltop views of Cordes-sur-Ciel and Ambialet, and step back in time in Castelnau-de-Montmiral, Puycelsi or Penne. For Albi itself — cathedral, Toulouse-Lautrec museum, old town — see our guide Visit Albi: what to see and where to stay.

Hiking and cycling

On foot, by bike, motorbike or horse, the Tarn is full of trails. We provide maps and guides to find the walk that suits you, from the Montagne Noire to the Gaillac vineyards, the Sidobre rocks and the white stones of the Cordes country.

If you come by bike or motorbike, an outdoor water point and covered shelter are at your disposal — and with a hectare of land, we can also welcome riders and their horses.

Water activities

To cool off, there are many swimming spots nearby: 15 minutes away in Saint-Juéry, a water sports base with river pool and canoeing; further on, quiet swimming spots towards Marsal and Trébas; and the Bancalié lake for fishing, hiking, picnicking or swimming. And if you’d rather stay at the house, we now have a small above-ground pool — child-safe and just right for cooling off.
